Education

For the fiscal year that begins July 1, 2013, FY 2014, the legislature appropriated the following dollars and percent of General Fund Revenues for education:  $1.3 Billion or 47% for Public Schools, $236.5 Million or 8.5 % for College and Universities and $143 million or 5.1% for Other Education.  An example of the several education bills passed in 2013 is:

H 65, It restores $30 Million of funding taken away with the repeal of Students Come First Laws making possible continuation of educational efforts such as; increasing the number of math and science teachers, improving professional development, maintaining dual credit courses, providing district budget flexibility, increasing teacher pay by unfreezing education credits on salary grid.
